Nokia has unveiled Asha 501, the first phone to run on the new Asha platform, which is designed to make the experience faster and more responsive. The new Asha 501 smartphone provides stunning design with bold color, a high-quality build and an innovative user interface.
The new Nokia Asha 501 feature a 3-inch QVGA TFT capacitive display with 240 x 320 pixels resolution and 133 ppi pixel density. The smartphone comes with 64 MB Ram and 128Mb internal memory with 4GB external memory card included with the device. The memory is expandable upt 32GB via micro SD card. The type of processor and speed is not known as of now.
The Asha 501 will feature a 3.2-megapixel rear camera with QVGA video recording at 15fps.The Nokia Asha 501 is available in single or EasySwap Dual SIM models. It will be available in six colours – Bright Red, Bright Green, Cyan, Yellow, White and Black. The Asha 501 will come in both single and dual-SIM variants, but we are not sure if we’ll get both variants.
The phone come with WiFi and Bluetooth but no 3G connectivity. Though Nokia said that the 3G version is likely to be launched later. The device comes with 1200 mAh battery and according to Nokia, the phone can deliver up to 17 hours of talk time, with 48 days standby time with single SIM and 26 days with dual-SIM. Given that it’s a budget phone, Nokia has bundled just the basic sensors like proximity and accelerometer.

The Nokia Asha 501 is expected to start shipping in June 2013 at a suggested pricing of $99 excluding taxes which means around RS 5300 in India. Nokia also announced a global partnership with Facebook, saying that Asha 501 users on Airtel and MTNL will get free access to the social networking site.
