Yesterday Sony announced a new affordable addition to its Xperia smartphone range, the Sony Xperia E. The Android smartphone will be available in both single and dual SIM versions from the first quarter of 2013.
Sony commented that the new Sony Xperia E is a compact and competitively priced smartphone. The phone will be available in colour options such as black, white and pink. Xperia E is equipped with outstanding HD Voice, with features such as noise cancellation that filters out background noise allowing users to hold clear conversations in any environment.
Xperia E from Sony announced to be launched in Q1 2013
Sony states that HD Voice differentiates mobile devices by voice call quality where the human voice is replicated accurately. This helps in creating a quality aural experience that is vastly improved from what users have encountered previously with both mobile and traditional fixed line telephony. Commenting on this feature Sony states, “It’s almost like a whisper in your ear, you feel closer to the person you are talking to.”
Xperia E is designed for low power consumption at an affordable cost. The device will feature a data usage application that will monitor how much data has been consumed and the extended standby mode increases the standby time up to 4 times. This happens when the screen goes in sleep mode for a few minutes, Wi-Fi and data traffic will be disabled and most applications will be inactive to save the battery life. However, calling and messaging will continue to work as normal. Sony explains that once you touch the screen to wake the device up from standby, all functions return back to normal.
Sony Xperia E will also be available in a dual SIM version – Xperia E dual, so that consumers can easily switch between tariffs with just one touch to stay on the most cost effective plan.
As far as Xperia E specifications are concerned, the phone will run on Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean platform. The device is powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7227A processor and 512MB RAM. The Xperia E will come with 4GB of internal phone storage, with 2.2GB of those being user-available, which is expandable via microSD card slot .
